About Us
Youcanpark.com was founded in November 2006 following the frustrations of parking in central areas.
Its founding member discovered, whilst working in a city centre, that parking was a complete nightmare. Car parks are usually full by 7.30am, and even if you managed to get a space, it costs ludicrous amounts to park for only a few hours. Public transport also proved to be horrendous, with buses turning up late, and fares spiraling out of control.
One possible solution to this problem was to commute into the city in the early morning, and park on the roadside near the centre. This involved getting up at crazy hours, and if there was any traffic, that golden space would be missed, the result being turning up late for work, and an unhappy manager!
Whilst undertaking the 30 minute walk to work and thinking about what could be done, youcanpark.com's founding member realized that empty driveways and company car parks could be put to better use.
After further research, it was realized that these driveways could be utilized by commuters who were desperate for somewhere to park. Owners of empty driveways could rent out their empty space, giving them a secondary income and the added security of a car parked outside their house. Commuters could then rent out the space, meaning a guaranteed parking space near work, and at a much cheaper rate to any other form of parking.
This solution was positive for both parties!
This resulted in the creation of youcanpark.com.
